IPC has created some opportunities for members of the growing e-textiles industry to become involved in improving the reliability of products and the strengthen the industry overall.
Participate in IPC E-Textiles Standards Development
In 2017, the e-textiles community approached IPC because they had a need for industry standards. They want standards they can use to lower manufacturing costs, decrease time to market, improve quality throughout the supply chain and foster innovation.
The IPC E-Textiles Committee is developing two standards:
IPC-8921, Requirements for Electronic Textiles (E-Textiles), Conductive Fibers and Conductive Yarns
IPC-8941, Guideline on Connections for E-Textiles
The IPC Printed Electronics Committee invites you to join its efforts. There is no cost or obligation to participate. Email [email protected] to for information about the standards and to join the teams.
IPC also wants to know your needs for standards, guidelines, round robins, test methods or any other technical activity you would like to see the IPC E-Textiles Committee undertake. Email Chris to share your ideas.

WHERE ELECTRONICS AND TEXTILES COME TOGETHER
IPC E-Textiles 2018 is a one-day technical and business education workshop on e-textiles that will bring together innovators, technologists and engineers to collaborate on solutions, identify partners and identify solutions to propel growth for the e-textiles market.
Topics will deal with all aspects of e-textile development, including:
- E-textile wearables for consumers, sports, medical, military and safety markets
- Bringing the IoT to textiles
- How to develop an e-textiles business model
- How to collaborate with the supply chain to get the end-product you envision
- Materials and components that make up e-textiles and how to select the right ones for your applications

IPC E-Textiles Standards Brainstorming Session Report Available

IPC hosted a brainstorming session in Washington, D.C. to discuss needs for e-textiles industry standards. If you would like to receive a copy of this report, or be added to our contact list for announcements about any future sessions please email Chris Jorgensen, IPC Director, Technology Transfer.
